This wasn't at Deck Heads 2 (see earlier post also) but I did think about it when I saw this post on Hypebeast. They are actually for Calgary skate shop The Source. The almost 20 year old store has looked to Daniel Curtis to create their Fine Dining series of decks. Shot with all real food which has passed through the gullet of Daniel Curtis, the series is a fun play on the theme of fine dining as it encompasses designs including hot dogs, donuts, fries and burgers. Look for the decks to hit sourceboards.com.

You can find me at the show...
I missed her last week but tonight you can find me at the Janelle Monae show at World Cafe Live with Franklin Bridge. Really looking forward to a show that will leave me with my jaw on the ground. From her new EP, called Metropolis-Suite I: The Chase, to the live videos on OkayplayerTV and all of the industry talk about Janelle, I can't say that I expect anything else from the evening. Oh yeah, and she's on Bad Boy. Props to Diddy for giving her some light and props to Big Boi for recognizing some real special talent.
And for Franklin Bridge, coming from Philly and Jersey, they have played for a legendary list of hip-hop pioneers and moguls including Shawn Carter, Diddy, LL Cool J, Pharrell, DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Roots. They were also on The Next Great American Band on Fox. Check out the flawless performances from both above and below.
Deck Heads 2 tonight!
This Saturday June 14th, 2008 EXIT PHILADELPHIA will be throwing it's 2nd Annual "Deck Heads" art show. 50+ artist have come together to show artwork on actual skateboard decks. Some are painted, some are sculpted, some are beautiful some are down right GNARLY, but in the end it is all for a good cause. They have joined forces with The Franklin’s Paine Skatepark Fund, a Philadelphia based non-profit organization raising money for a skatepark in Philadelphia along the Schuylkill river.Deck Heads 2 will be showing at Amble Gallery starting today Saturday, June 14th. There will be a HUGE opening reception with music, food, beer, and followed by an after party right down the street at the Good OL' 700 Club. Deck Heads will be showing at Amble throughout the entire month of June, so even if you miss the opening you can still drop by, and check out the works!

Development plans for The Spectrum
A 240,000 square foot entertainment complex is in the works for the sports complex in South Philly. Although they won’t break ground until at least next year, the prospect of more retail and dining opportunities near the stadiums has the city a buzz. The artist’s rendering of the complex shows a hotel with residential condos in the space where the Spectrum currently sits. It is still uncertain however if the Spectrum will need to be torn down in order to go through with the plan.

Put the stash in the stairs!
Storage, you can never have enough and when you think you do, guess what, you're wrong. We are facing storage problems over at the Pork Fried house as I write this. If only we had the storage stairs!

Notes From Underground
All this talk about the underground tunnels and concourses in the Citypaper today made me think of these vids that I saw a little while back. Be sure to check out the article (linked above..duh), experienced and written by Matt Stroud. I got mad respect for this guy.

Remember when he was just a Philly boy from Cherry Hill..
Yeah, pretty boy Scott Storch has a warrant out for his arrest and owes a shitload of money in property taxes and child support. Shit is just funny to me. Read more HERE or THERE. And of course there is more HERE and HERE. And let's not forget about the super yacht sale a few months back either. Sometimes you forget what a lot of money is when you charge $100,000 a track, or in Scott Storch's case, what a lot of money was.
