Obama-Lincoln Posters

Ron English took to the streets of Boston and posted numerous oversized prints of his previously seen "Obama-Lincoln" fusion posters just in time for the July 4th opening of the "a politic" show from Gallery XIV in Boston. The new prints have seen a colorization process that brings new life to the already infamous posters that fused the US presidential candidate with one of America's most recognizable presidents known for ending slavery in the United States. You Pay They Spray

Ever wanted your name or message thrown up on the Israeli separation wall in the West Bank, but plane tickets are way too pricey and you hear it’s not the safest neighborhood these days? Good news! A new project courtesy of the Palestinian Peace and Freedom Youth Forum now allows anyone to post a message on the massive separation barrier that Israel has been erecting, allegedly to keep out terrorists.

By paying 30 euros, you can send a message through the PFF’s website www.sendamessage.nl and volunteers will spray it on the wall for you. According to the website, “You can write almost anything. Nonsense and humor are okay. But hurting people (in Palestine, Israel, or anywhere else) isn’t.”

If you’re worried about where your hard earned money is going, relax. The site assures you that not a cent of it will go towards buying weapons. The project was created to help fund a series of Palestinian grassroots projects in the social, cultural, and educational field.

The sender receives three digital images, via e-mail, of their message going up on the wall.

Philadelphia's Next Skyscraper?

B-Boy Records: The Masterworks

Old school hip hop heads, you HAVE to check this out: B-Boy Records brings us the Holy Grail of hip hop box sets by compiling every 12", LP and comp that they have EVER released! You might recognize monumental groups like Boogie Down Productions, JVC Force, Cold Crush Brothers, Sparky D and Cold City Crew, but have you heard of Levi 167, The Brothers, Frozen Explosion, Money Earnin' Crew, Star Moet, Wax Master Tory, Soul Dimension, Mike Gee, and Malibu & Storm? And that's not even all of them. The set comes with a beautiful insert booklet, complete with 12" spindle scans, track listings, artwork and behind the scenes pictures of the artists and studios. The whole catalogue is archived onto four CDs, perfectly captured in 320kbps MP3 format with artwork and labels linked, and organized in folders by catalogue number (about 19 releases per disc). It's the closest thing to wishing to a genie. Highly recommended.

Box Set contains:

- The entire B-Boy Records catalogue!
- High quality 320kb MP3s archived on four (4) data CDs, over 2.5GB of audio (get track listing here)
- A 40 page booklet with never before seen photos, master reels, original cover and label art, and credits.

B.A.D.D.

I can make anything into a stencil.

No not me, meet Logan Hicks, the king of cutting intricate stencil. Word is spreading fast about his recently announced solo show in London. Check the video of Mr. Hicks spraying layer upon layer of handcut stencil for one of his famous city alley pieces. I can't imagine cutting that much stencil without having to rehab your hand afterwards, and this dude does it for a living, insane.

Quoted recently from Logan:

“The past 6 months I have been chained to my studio like a sweatshop worker. It has been both wonderful and grueling. Now, after this long, solitary work period, I am proud to present my solo show at The Black Rat Press gallery in London. This body of work will include about 30+ stencils pieces, as well as a new body of photography work. For those in London, information is below.”

4th Amendment down the drain?

This is fucked...period.

J*Davey Release Today!

The Beauty In Distortion/ The Land Of The Lost, the first full length release from J*Davey. If you need some new music in your life, I promise you, this is it. Pick it up digitally through ITunes, or pick up a copy from the local music shop(not sure if Best Buy or any of those stores have it, but I wouldn't put money on it).

J*Davey post from last week.

What the hell is a Papertrigger?

Papertrigger just happens to be my favorite band in Philly right now, by a long shot. You MUST see these guys live as soon as you can.

"With the release of their debut 'Riot Lovers' EP at the end of 2007, Philadelphia's Papertrigger have crashed into people lives with an astounding and relentless energy, drawing comparisons to such acts as Blackheart Procession, Beirut, Ben Folds Five and late-era Radiohead.

Their songs and live show carry an undeniably epic quality about them, and yet pull on universal feelings that you'd be hard-pressed not to give in to. Theirs is a ghostly and intricate universe, full of winsome tides of raw energy, soaring guitars, haunted group chants and marching band pomp.

Fans have appropriately nicknamed their song styling "bar-brawl music", because it's music they feel you might hear during a bar fight. Granted, it's not a bar you'd be likely to find in this time period, or on this planet, but a bar nonetheless."

- Kip Kouri, Tell All Your Friends PR

Check out their video for "Fox Hunting", off the Riot Lovers' EP.

And Check out their video from VIMBY. Oh yeah, and just so you know, this is not your typical 5 piece band, they have all sorts of makeshift instruments that they bring along to their shows.

And guess what??
Papertrigger goes into the studio to begin recording their new album with Pork Fried Productions at the end of July. Yeah, bananasss.
