Day 8: Caribou - Melody Day

I first heard this song in a skateboard video and then I saw it in a BMX video, every since the first time I heard it I knew I had to have it. This song is good anytime, morning, evening, rainy day, you name it. Enjoy.

Day 6: Black Kids - I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance With You

As promised, here is song #2 for the day and it's way more upbeat. I'm really addicted to this song, especially the ending of it, it's mad dancey (not a word).

Day 5: Bon Iver - Skinny Love

I haven't seen this much snow in a longg time, I'm tired from shoveling and today is officially a chill out day. If you don't know about Bon Iver then you should know that I chose this song for a specific reason. Bon Iver, the musical id of Justin Vernon, recorded the basic tracks for this solo debut at his father's hunting cabin, deep in the Wisconsin woods. Camped out with a guitar and a desire for isolation and clear-eyed focus, Vernon emerged after several snowy months with a batch of intimate and melancholy works that will warm any chilled heart....thanks I-Tunes. Enjoy your snowy or not snowy day.

Day 4: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home

The snow is here! I slowly begin to remember why I actually like the cold and living in the Northeast. Snow! As much as it makes everything more difficult, it's just too much fun when it comes down real hard. With that said, I'm goin out to romp with the pup. This song seems appropriate for the day.

The New Blog...

So here is the "new" idea for the blog people. After doing the blog thing for the past few years, simply put...I'm bored. And let's be honest, almost everything that I post has been available elsewhere for free. So the new idea...I will be posting one song daily, that's right, just 1 (maybe 2 depending on my mood). Posts will be made in the morning and they will NOT always include a download link. Most will have I-Tunes links or website links. I'm tired of constricting myself to only posting new music and certain genres, so you are going to get a wide range of tunes. And due to the fact that I buy most of my music from I-Tunes, I will not be able to provide download links, you actually might have to buy the music! Oh no!! Bottom line is that I still live and breathe for that new song that catches my ear and provides a new soundtrack for my day or life, the goal of this blog is to share my musical experience with you.

New! Blue Scholars OOF! EP drops August 25th

Everybody loves Hawaii. Few know better than Blue Scholars’ MC Geo, having grown up in Honolulu in the 1980’s and returning with the Scholars’ dj/ producer Sabzi last year to rock a sold-out homecoming show at Next Door. Love lingered in the air despite all the changes happening outside the sweaty, crackin’ club. “Development” has paved over lush lands and displaced longtime locals, the US military continues its stranglehold on the islands, and tourism runs tings (into the ground). By and by, the people maintain, and Blue Scholars bore witness to life beyond the beaches and resorts.

Oof! is the story about the Hawaii that you don’t see on TV: fish-fry BBQs in Waianae, native Hawaiians struggling for sovereignty, house parties on the Leeward side, uncles playing mah-jong on a lanai in Waipahu, a thriving independent hip-hop and fashion scene, on-air ciphers at KTUH, a room full of folks vibin’ to a mean reggae song, young poets spitting fire into mics, grubbing on poke in the Foodland parking lot, whole neighborhoods leveled by the ice epidemic.

New! Alien Architect EP

Not sure if there is an official name for this or what, also not sure if I should be droppin' it yet. Until further notice here it is, newness from The Alien.

The ALien Architect Bio:
"The Alien Architect (AA) AKA The Obsurdist Wordist is the "out of this world" Rhythm And Poet (RAP) secret identity of the mild mannered Philadelphia native, Devin Asher Shlomo Cohen. AA has been known to play "beat sets," in which he raps with a Dj and a bass player, "accoustic sets," in which he plays guitar and raps at the same time often alongside a violinist and Philadelphia flute and sax legend Elliot Levinne, "spoken word sets," and "hard hittin' full band sets," which include keys, bass, guitar, drums, and computer nic nacs. HIs lyrics are quite "je ne se pa." And the instrumentation, as well as the musicality of AA's raps are to die for. The ALien Architect is influenced by Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Saul Williams, K-os, Cream, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Blackalicious, The Roots, Look Daggers, and many more.

The blog is back!/I'm back! Stay tuned, I am gonna be posting everything that I have missed from the past few months and more. I'll try not to be such a slacker from now on.
