Bad-Kittys.com was created by SWINDLE friend and photographer Rony Alwin and American Apparel model Lauren Paez as a way to “pass the time” with their friends while hanging out in their new, unfurnished Los Angeles apartment in early 2008. Bad-Kittys.com is quickly becoming a cult favorite, due to the fact that their sexy, half-naked, friends are beautifully photographed in pin-up style poses.
Now they are taking the Bad Kitty’s show on the road. Presented in part by vintage cocktail lounge, Beauty Bar, the tour will hit five cities. For tour dates click here.
In this latest interview, hip-hop’s original documentarian Martha Cooper offers amazing insight on how she became the quintessential link between the graffiti/hip-hop scene and the rest of the world as these subcultures were in their infancy. The video also includes unreal imagery of some of the culture’s legendary players including none other then the late great Style Master Dondi White. This interview uncovers Martha Cooper’s honest approach and feelings on her she would be come such an integral part of hip-hop, b-boying and graffiti.
Sole is a documentary that digs into the unique history of sneakers in Philadelphia. Come hear from the designers, store owners, collectors and enthusiasts who look at sneakers not only as function and fashion, but as an artistic passion. While sneakers may serve their functional or fashionable purposes for hundreds of millions, they also serve as a serious hobby and lifestyle for mavens the world over. Some would even say that sneakers have graduated from a simple collector’s item to a bonafide modern art movement. The film Sole delves deep into this underground world, picking the brains of sneaker boutique owners as well as designers and consumers to bring to light a full perspective of this unique business. Over twenty participants open up their shops, closets and shoe boxes for a rare look at the multidimensional landscape that is sneaker culture. Follow Philadelphia’s heavy sneaker hitters as well as everyday sneaker collectors to see what makes them so oddly passionate about this multi-billion dollar industry. Bring your freshest pair!
I found myself reminiscing about the B-Boy BBQ from '07 today, all I can do is watch the video from last year and remember....bull. From that thought I decided to do a little post about the crew that released an album for the BBQ, the fellas from 84. For those of you who don't know about 84, check the recent interview here from Artofrhyme.com. I also put up a mix from DJ Statik of Illvibe Collective, called "11 minutes of 84", and a track from their recently re-released album, "Ourselves".
Meet Verso. His vernacular transcends the vibrations and his voice breathes creativity. The advancement of language - The rebirth of intelligent slang.
Verso is at once a unique and extraordinary example of artistic creativity and a familiar continuation of classic traditions. Much like Hip-hop itself, Verso was born on the island of Jamaica, migrated with his parents to America at a very young age, and has grown through and along with the progression of urban culture.
Any description of Verso as an artist has to begin with lyrical ability. It is the foundation that allows him the freedom to go anywhere and do anything he wants to artistically. It is also the source of his ability to speak to the wide range of people that seem so drawn to his words. Verso embodies the catchy, charismatic, edgy and fun nature that has made rap music the billion-dollar commercial industry that it currently is.
Representing both Jamaica and his current home of Philadelphia to the fullest, Verso is everything that is right about hip-hop. His very laid-back off-stage personality lulls unsuspecting audiences into a false sense of unimportance until he takes center stage and captivates the crowd with articulate, clear, and precise rhymes such as, “Just like, Marvin Harrison or Dwayne Wade,/ my aim is not to be famous but to make plays./ So watch me,/ underdog from the city of Rocky./ Understand, underestimation ain’t gon’ stop me./ A shame. To get attention, gotta be ungodly,/ that’s not me, I’m as quiet as the T in tsunami./ Get it?”

Ron English took to the streets of Boston and posted numerous oversized prints of his previously seen "Obama-Lincoln" fusion posters just in time for the July 4th opening of the "a politic" show from Gallery XIV in Boston. The new prints have seen a colorization process that brings new life to the already infamous posters that fused the US presidential candidate with one of America's most recognizable presidents known for ending slavery in the United States. Ever wanted your name or message thrown up on the Israeli separation wall in the West Bank, but plane tickets are way too pricey and you hear it’s not the safest neighborhood these days? Good news! A new project courtesy of the Palestinian Peace and Freedom Youth Forum now allows anyone to post a message on the massive separation barrier that Israel has been erecting, allegedly to keep out terrorists.
By paying 30 euros, you can send a message through the PFF’s website www.sendamessage.nl and volunteers will spray it on the wall for you. According to the website, “You can write almost anything. Nonsense and humor are okay. But hurting people (in Palestine, Israel, or anywhere else) isn’t.”
If you’re worried about where your hard earned money is going, relax. The site assures you that not a cent of it will go towards buying weapons. The project was created to help fund a series of Palestinian grassroots projects in the social, cultural, and educational field.
The sender receives three digital images, via e-mail, of their message going up on the wall.

So here is the "new" idea for the blog people. After doing the blog thing for the past few years, simply put...I'm bored. And let's be honest, almost everything that I post has been available elsewhere for free. So the new idea...I will be posting one song daily, that's right, just 1 (maybe 2 depending on my mood). Posts will be made in the morning and they will NOT always include a download link. Most will have I-Tunes links or website links but if they don't just type the song into google and you should be able to hunt it down (also try elbo.ws). I'm tired of constricting myself to only posting new music and certain genres, so you are going to get a wide range of tunes. And due to the fact that I buy most of my music from I-Tunes, I will NOT be able to provide download links, you actually might have to buy the music! Oh no!! Bottom line is that I still live and breathe for that new song that catches my ear and provides a new soundtrack for my day or life, the goal of this blog is to share some of my musical findings and influences with you. In short, this is the music that I am getting down with at the moment.
