David Choe - "Dirty Hands"
The documentary is based on the titled subject, David Choe, a young near-schizophrenic American street artist who executes any and every idea that pops into his delinquent imagination.
Choe devises numerous criminal schemes that afford him to hitchhike across the globe via trains, planes and automobiles. By skirting the legal constraints of society, he is allowed to “freely” create his art. Eventually, his nonchalant law-breaking style lands him in serious trouble. The movie finally premiered in LA at the film festival this past week so it will be out soon.

Move Somethin'
Seeing that Hi-Tek is in town, I felt it was appropriate to post this vid. Need I remind you what this track sounds like on a good set of speakers, yeahhh, knock knock BOOM!
Move Somethin' - Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek, off Reflection Eternal
.
Reminisce on this...some gritty oldschool Talib and Mos Def, not sure what it's called so lets just call it Eternal Reflection, and Blackstar featuring Black Thought, Breathe In.

Sabzi Speaks
If you are a producer, emcee, DJ or any type of musician I highly recommend watching this three part interview with Sabzi, producer of Blue Scholars and Common Market. There is a lot of truth to be told about some things he speaks on, it's nice to see someone can still put the pieces together.
New Dice Raw, Old Nouveau Riche
New track from Dice Raw courtesy of Okayplayer. Pretty hot. Also included a link for the Nouveau Riche Longtail EP. For those who don't know, Nouveau Riche is a band fronted by emcee Dice Raw and singer Nikki Jean. Nikki Jean was recently on Lupe Fiasco's album, The Cool, and she just got back from The Glow In The Dark Tour with Lupe, Kanye and NERD. Hopefully she still keeps up with the Nouveau Riche project cause I need more of that in my life. I can only imagine what it's like to be performing at shows with Kanye and Lupe to going back to playing for your original band and getting back on the grind. Only time will tell what will happen, or has it already spoken? Someone knows something that you don't :(

Truck North's machinegun flow
Peep this recent interview from Truck North on SixShot.com and Okayplayer. Don't sleep on Truck, this man's delivery is on point....every time. Check him out on The Antidote (older post), and on The Roots albums, Game Theory and Rising Down. You gotta get those Roots tracks on your own, but I got somethin else for you. A intro track, a track with Black Thought produced by Noize Trip, and a track produced by Questlove, all off of Truck's album or mixtape, Northern Exposure. I dunno what the deal is with this album really, aside from the fact that it needs a good mix. It got released but I don't think anyone was paying attention, shit is fire though.
Quoted from SixShot Interview
"Philly is kind of like a double-edged sword. On one side you have the underground, hipster, or backpacker scene, which is bubbling. And on the other side you have the scene that is completely about lyrics, you know what I’m saying? Everybody tries to stay different, but some people try to do it on some commercial sh*t. So you have one side that’s trying to be different and trying to be ahead of the curve, and you have the other side that’s not really pushing the envelope."
Sounds about right to me.

Meet Lucy McLauchlan
Meet Lucy McLauchlan who works out of the same London gallery as Banksy, Jamie Hewlett, Stanely Donwood and others and paints as if she might improve the world by doing so (we reckon she does).’Harlan Levey, editor of Modart Magazine.
All Lucy 'ever wanted to do was draw' and after turning down a lucrative deal with a major brand who'd have happily paid her to draw, but would have sucked out her soul, she proved she wasn't going to become yet another branded commercial artist. Since then Lucy Mclauchlan's artwork has gone from strength to strength in it's own right, with exhibitions across the globe; it's now not only her screen prints but also her original artwork that has become increasingly desirable and sought after. But for Lucy it's still about the drawing, the simple need to create the perfect line, mark making in it's most basic form. Her intuitive approach allows her subconscious mind to take control and this is what makes her art unique: the character driven, organic undertones and often densely populated images emerge from within her tranquil exterior and manifest on surfaces that range from breasts to cars, covering millimetres to meters. Also check out her feature from this months (June) issue of Juxtapoz.

Baba Israel and Yako 440 are joined by NYC dancers- B-boy RU of Kings of New York and Poppers Mike Supreme and Crazy Pop! Directed by Peter Blitzer.
Damn I love this song by Baba Israel and Yako 440! Baba Israel has mad skills, first off he is a nasty off the dome freestyler, illy emcee, and beatbox/didgeridoo extraordinaire. Peep some of his vids on his myspace or youtube. Props to Hyphen-One for putting me on to Baba and Yako awhile back at one of his shows in Jerz, and for droppin me a line about this vid today.

Memories of the Future
Dewey Saunders aka emcee Unless is joining the Pork Fried Familia, it's official. If you don't know Dewey, get to know him here. And just so you have a better idea, Dewey is a graphic designer/illustrator who has done work for clients such as The New Yorker, Main Line Today, Freshout Media and others. He also has a newly released record called Memories of the Future, recorded, mixed and mastered by Pork Fried, beats by Insted, vocals by Unless. Remembering George Carlin
Another day, another great gone. The great George Carlin passed away last night due to heart failure.
For those who don't know, Carlin's most recent stand-up routines focused on the flaws in modern-day America. He often took on contemporary political issues in the United States and satirized the excesses of American culture. He placed second on the Comedy Central cable television network list of the 10 greatest stand-up comedians, ahead of Bruce and behind Richard Pryor. He was a frequent performer and guest host on The Tonight Show during the three-decade Johnny Carson era, and was also the first person to host Saturday Night Live.
Watch this clip of his famous "Seven Words" act.
Watch this clip of him doing his famous “Baseball vs. Football” comparison in 1990 in New Jersey.

This may be new for many of my east coast homies, but I know that Blue Scholars are doin real well over on the west coast. Mad props to Geo for being about something meaningful and trying to make a difference through his work with Bayan-USA, a progressive coalition of organizations fighting for genuine freedom in the Philippines. What does a beautiful song sound like?
Like this. This tune is called "I and Ever" by Elise Queeley, produced and recorded by Pork Fried Productions. Oh how we love Elise here in the states. Residing in London, Ms. Queeley can only make it over here every once in awhile. But I'll tell you when she can grace us with her presence, she leaves her special mark everytime, musically, spiritually and influentially. You inspire all of us Elise, for real. Anyway, she was here earlier this month and recorded a bunch of new tracks at the Pork Fried Crib. Time will tell if I can let you have a listen, so keep an eye or ear out for that. In the meantime, here is the tune that will get you through your day...everyday, "I and Ever". Bonus track is "One Gone" by Queeley featuring Akilles and Kurt. Enjoy.

Studio Gangster
Stephen ESPO Powers is a Philadelphia native who has been writing on walls since he was three. After attending the University of the Arts, he moved to New York and launched On the Go Magazine, a graffiti lifestyle periodical that with Ari Forman and several conspirators help, grew from a grubby 3 page xerox to a 96 page magazine with 40,000 copies internationally distributed. No longer unique and still smarting from the experience, he put On The Go to sleep.
The Art of Getting Over (St. Martin’s Press 1999) is the culmination of Stephen Powers 13 years of graffiti experience. More than pretty pictures, the book tells the stories of several writers, creating a compelling depiction of the illicit expression.
With the newest publication of, Steve Powers Is A Studio Gangster, Powers records 5 years of paintings that distill the complete range of human emotion into readily recalled and related memes. These visual archetypes are aptly described by Powers as a synthesis of word and image to create a new emotional revelation . This book is published on the occasion of his Fall 2007 exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art entitled. Powers is a 2008 Fulbright scholar and has shown at Deitch Projects, the 49th Bienalle, the Luggage Store and the Liverpool Biannual in 2004
