95 degrees, a few thousand people, and a picnic with The Roots
Just got home from The Roots Picnic and all I can say is wow. To all my fellow sailors who jumped ship at the last minute...because it was too hot? Come on now, you guys don't even know what you missed. Aside from the uncounted technical difficulties, microphone failures, and relentless heat (which made the show one that I will never forget), the show was first class. The highlights for me being, The Roots one hour and twenty minute set, Diplo w/ Blaqstarr and Rye Rye in the tent, Gnarles Barkley, and Quest playing the tambourine for an encore with Gnarles. And to all my fellow fans who stuck it out until the end and got to see the Gnarles and Quest collabo....we shared a special moment that only about a tenth of the people who attended the picnic witnessed. O yeah, and The Roots covered this tonight and crushed it.
So here is the "new" idea for the blog people. After doing the blog thing for the past few years, simply put...I'm bored. And let's be honest, almost everything that I post has been available elsewhere for free. So the new idea...I will be posting one song daily, that's right, just 1 (maybe 2 depending on my mood). Posts will be made in the morning and they will NOT always include a download link. Most will have I-Tunes links or website links but if they don't just type the song into google and you should be able to hunt it down (also try elbo.ws). I'm tired of constricting myself to only posting new music and certain genres, so you are going to get a wide range of tunes. And due to the fact that I buy most of my music from I-Tunes, I will NOT be able to provide download links, you actually might have to buy the music! Oh no!! Bottom line is that I still live and breathe for that new song that catches my ear and provides a new soundtrack for my day or life, the goal of this blog is to share some of my musical findings and influences with you. In short, this is the music that I am getting down with at the moment.
